Checking-in to class early and want to get a head start on the material? Here are some things you can do:

bulletFamiliarize yourself with the Math Online Web. Lots of information about my online classes is listed there!

bulletCheck-out your specific class website linked from the Math Online Web. Be sure to read the math online syllabus and your specific class syllabus both linked from your class website.

bulletPurchase access to MyMathLab*. MyMathLab access is required for all classes. MML provides access to the entire textbook online so the hard copy textbook is completely optional. The quizzes and exams will be conducted in MML. Detailed information about MyMathLab is stated in the "course materials" section of your class syllabus. *Note: You do not need to purchase another MML code if you are continuing in the same text, e.g. if you are taking math 095 after math 090 in the same text.

bulletYour MyMathLab course will become available usually about one week prior to the start of class.
Register with MML to establish your account at that time. The complete directions along with the MyMathLab Course ID that you will need are stated in the "course materials" section of your class syllabus.

bulletPurchase any other supplemental materials required for your class (see the "course materials" section of your class syllabus).

bulletThe first day orientation includes having to post an introductory biography to the discussion board on BlackBoard, so you could write that ahead of time if you want and then just cut 'n paste to post it to class on the first day. (It is expected to be at least 100 words and include a brief statement about your experience with online classes and/or why you chose to take this class online.)

bulletLastly, although I think you should be fully enjoying your break, if you really want to get a head start on the reading material, refer to these items:

bulletFor Math 089: Start reading chapter 1 in the online Blitzer text (3rd ed) focusing on 1.3-1.4 and 1.8.
Note that sections 1.1-1.2 and 1.5-1.7 are review from pre-algebra but worth skimming.

bulletFor Math 090: Read Clark Math Dept's Should I take the Math 090-095 or 089-091-093 sequence?. Then start reading chapter 1 in the online Blitzer text (3rd ed) focusing on 1.3-1.4 and 1.8. Note that sections 1.1-1.2 and 1.5-1.7 are review from pre-algebra but worth skimming.

bulletFor Math 091: Start reading chapter 4 "linear systems" in the online Blitzer text (3rd ed).

bulletFor Math 093: Read Clark Math Dept's The Jump from Math 091 to Math 093. (It refers to the Tussy text, but the general information is still valid.) Then start reading chapter 10 "radical functions" in the online Blitzer text (3rd ed).

bulletFor Math 095: Start reading chapter 6 "factoring" in the online Blitzer text (3rd ed) and/or review chapter 5 "polynomials" from elementary algebra.

bulletFor Math 103: Read the Clark Math Dept's Which math class should I take after Math 093/095? and Preparing to take Math 103. Then start reading chapter 1 in the online Lial/Hornsby/Schneider (9th ed).

bulletFor Math& 107: Start reading chapter 14 in the online Miller/Heeren/Hornsby text (11th ed).
Also purchase The Universe and the Teacup book and begin reading chapter I + 1-2.

bulletFor Math 111: Read the Clark Math Dept's Which math class should I take after Math 093/095? and Preparing to take Math 111. Then start reading chapter 1 in the online Blitzer text (5th ed) focusing on 1.6-1.7. Note that sections P.1-P.6 and 1.1-1.5 are review from intermediate algebra but worth skimming.

bulletFor Math& 151: Read the Clark Math Dept's Preparing to take Math 151. Then start reading chapter 2 "limits and continuity" in the online Thomas text (11th ed). Note that chapter 1 is review from pre-calculus. Skim if necessary.
