Unit 2A ~ Week 1

TOPIC: Functions - Properties, Common Shapes, and Transformations

  • Check for new Class Announcements.

  • Read Lesson Notes #2.1 and Lesson Notes #2.2 and Lesson Notes #2.3

  • MyMathLab: Study e-text sections 2.2 and 2.5

Sections 2.1, 2.3, 2.4 are review from algebra. Skim as needed.

Note: This term is compressed, so even though ch. 2 material is included in week 1, it is NOT on Quiz 1.

With this spring term being only 9-weeks long it is vital to stay on top of the material, don't procrastinate, don't get behind. I strongly recommend that you work this Unit 2A material as soon as you can in week 1, perhaps after completing Quiz 1. This Unit 2A/2B material will be covered on Quiz 2 (see below).

  • WAMAP: Read posts on DB1.
Unit 2B ~ Week 2

TOPIC: Geometry - Distance Formula, Midpoint Formula, and Circles
  • Check for new Class Announcements and your Clark Student Email.

  • Read Lesson Notes #6.1 and Lesson Notes #6.2

  • MyMathLab: Study e-text section 2.8

Sections 2.6-2.7 are covered next unit.

  • WAMAP: Participate on DB2. This is where you earn class participation points (CPRs) for week 2.

PARTICIPATE ON THE WEEKLY DISCUSSION BOARD REGULARLY! This class is designed on a collaborative learning model with the weekly discussion board (DB#) at its heart. The boards are where much of the learning takes place and where you earn CPR points for class participation which is a major component (about 1/3) of your overall grade. Plan to read and contribute to the threads on the discussion board on at least two days each week. It is recommended that you read the posts every other day and make one of your posts early in the week.

For full CPR points make 3 posts over any 2 days earning one "S", one "R", and one "Q" tag.

See MathOL Syllabus - Class Participation Requirements (CPRs) for definitions of S, R, Q, and X tags

and FAQs - Can you give me an example of how to earn full CPRs?

Need more information about substantive posting and participation? See Q&A starting at FAQs - CPRs.

  • MyMathLab: Prep for and take Quiz 2 over e-text sections 2.2, 2.5, 2.8 deadline 9:00 pm THURSDAY of week 2.

Attn Spring 2020 Class: Watch quiz deadlines carefully! Due to the compressed nature of this term there is a quiz approximately every 4 days in the first half of the term, then once weekly in the second half. Quizzes are sometimes due Tuesday, sometimes Thursday, sometimes Saturday. Some weeks have two quizzes due: DEADLINES CHART. Quiz 2 will open at 9am Tuesday and must be completed and submitted by 9pm Thursday. (15 pts)
