Course: Elementary Algebra
Topic: Linear Systems
Subtopic: 2x2 Systems of Equations III - Elimination Method

There are two methods of solving a system of equations algebraically. We cover the second one in this lesson. The elimination method involves adding the system's equations together with the goal of eliminating a variable so you can solve to the remaining variable.

By the end of this topic you should know and be prepared to be tested on:

Terms you should be able to define: elimination, elimination method (a.k.a. addition method, addition-elimination method) of solving a system of equations

Text Notes

As you work through the examples and exercises algebraically, try checking your answers by graphing electronically.

SKIP any examples/exercises covering "supply and demand", "curve fitting", or "linear regression" (now and throughout the entire course).
